Mission Statement
The objective of The Ultimate Pianist 2008 Competition is to discover and promote young pianists in the Philippines and identify their role in the world’s Artistic & Cultural map by providing performing opportunities and help in the enhancement of their careers. The Competition aims to simultaneously propagate the talents of the Ultimate Pianist as a Solo Recitalist, an Accompanist to Singers, a collaborative Chamber Musician, and a Soloist with Orchestra. As one of the incentives, THE LOURDES L. VILLANUEVA-CRUZ MEMORIAL AWARD was established in the memory of Lourdes “Lulu” Lacson Villanueva-Cruz --- a formidable concert pianist, a patient teacher, a caring mother, a strong woman, and a wonderful human being. The award’s purpose is not only to crown the Ultimate Pianist but also to bestow on the recipient the responsibility of living a life of moral consciousness, righteousness, discipline, and whose actions result in the service of others, country, and God.
